Doing some research for finishing one of the Shoreham Shops
1940 chair cars, and I'm trying to determine which windows
in the women's lounge were equipped with prism glass. Most
of the photographs clearly show that the toilet compartment
off of the lounge (the window right at the rear corner of
the car) had prism glass, but what about the other two
windows? There's a picture of the Silver Glow on page 158
of Charles Rudsiel's passenger car book that shows these
windows with clear glass and drapes, but did these windows
also have the venetian blinds like the rest of the windows
in the car? A photo of the Silver Birch on page 159 tends
to suggest the blinds, but that end of the car is away from
the camera, while a photo of Silver Cascade on the same page
doesn't show blinds or drapes. The photographs of this
group of cars in Mike Spoor's Color Guide all show the
opposite side of the cars.

Just curious,

Ed Pavlovic
