I am planning to model the same streach of track myself. I grew up
in Hannibal and both my father and grandfather worked the K-Line in
the comm dept of the Q and into the BN and now the BNSF. Some of the
towns you are looking for that had Q equip are Lousina, Elsberry, Old
Monroe and West Alton. If you want to go about 30 mi north of
Hannibal they have a good Yard at West Quincy where the K-line meets
the line going to Chicago. Palmyra is between West Quincy and
Hannibal.

I am just now starting my reasearch into this and trying to decide
what era I want to model. I inherated an entire B&O lay out from the
1930's that I want to change into the K-line. There are a couple of
good pics on the Burlington Route Historcal Socity web site of
downtown Hannibal.

Are you planing to model this looking from the river side of the
tracks or from the bluff side? I think it it might be easier from
the river side of the tracks because some of the tracks run right
underneeth some good size cliffs. Lovers Leap in Hannibal is one
example. The old Hannibal yards were directly underneeth the cliff.
You used to be able to stand on top of the leap and drive golf balls
into the yard before they put up a chain link fence. It is still one
of my favorite places to watch the freight trains from in town.

Good Luck
Kerry
