Tks Pete - I contacted Signode to ask where distribution warehouse(s) were
in midwest that the box car would have originated and whether they ever had
their own railcars. I believe Signode still makes the wrap for those bulk
loads of lbr (some great HO detail parts made for this but that said in the
pre-BN era most lbr was shipped in boxcars or if on a flat, was NOT covered
by wrappers. I can recall the grain door opening covers stacked in ground
by elevators for installation and also meeting a Fed grain insp. once -
didn't Western Weighing once install these as well? Torn doors hanging out
of door openings on empty 40' box cars were a common sight back then. Same
HO mfg makes those lumber wrappers makes the door liners too I believe but I
make my own. Great modeling detail!
