I used to own a former CB&Q Pullman built for the "North Coast Limited." It was the CB&Q 480, an 8-6-3-1 configuration. It had a belt driven generator. The Spicer drive generator (axle) would have been better, I don't think it was widely used on passenger cars in 1948. 1949 was a different story.
