This is from another list.
I'm not a member of the BRHS nor do I know who its officers are but I
thought they should have an opportunity to answer this.

<That's why RITS voted to never again have a joint meet with them. The
BRHS is obviously trying to become some secret society. If I was to list
all the complaints that I have received on these guys in the last three
years it would take all day.

I especially enjoyed the story about last year's convention when they
threw an attendee and his wife both out of the Saturday night banquet
because one of the BRHS officers found out an hour earlier that the man
in question was publishing a CB&Q caboose book without the prior consent
of the BRHS.

Seems that private individuals can no longer write or publish material on
the Burlington Route without the BRHS board's written permission. Then
when he told them that he could publish any thing he wanted, one BRHS
official allerted the Iowa Attorney General's Office on this guy for
attempting to market books in Illinois. (So what.) I have seen copies of
these actual complaints filed by the BRHS. These were done without the
knowledge of the membership (and some of the board) but were written on
official BRHS letterhead. Last I heard they (BRHS) were being sued by
several people, one being this guy who they tried to put out of business.

What a waste of time. Seems like the energy of the BRHS' officers would
have been better spent if they would have sought legal action against Coe
Sun for the Tarantula deal and against their own vice-president for
writing the Ft. Worth BRHS-RITS convention a $300.00 hot check back in
2000.

Those of us who attended the Ft. Worth RITS-BRHS joint convention a few
years ago observed the disreputable conduct of the BRHS leadership then.

For any of you RS'ers who are planning on attending the BRHS
convention, I ask that you please inform the powers at be that I have not
received anything mailings about the convention, ballot for the annual
election nor did I ever receive a reply to an e-mail that I sent to the
BRHS website over two weeks ago.

Someone on RS suggested that they might have lost their non-profit
status and bulk mail permit.

My advise to the BRHS is to clean up their act or they will no doubt
be loosing something else. Namely members.
