I believe they were used on the South Sioux line and O'Neill line as well

  SD 7's 400-411 were made especially for branch line service and were
  "lightweight"...smaller fuel tanks and no steam generators....They were
dual controls
  though.

  I worked Fairmont (NE) - Hildreth local for about three months summer
  1958...We always had one of these units.   They were also used on the St.
Joe
  Division in the 1950.s
