Yes, kitbashing in N scale is more challenging than in HO.
Fortunate for us Burlington modelers, Charlie was working at Kato at the time
the Budd equipment made it's N scale debut. Thanks Charlie!
You can use the pre-war Dining Parlor Observation, knowing it carried the
markers for the coach section of the Denver Zephyr on occassion. (Vista Dome
Observations Silver Chateau and Silver Veranda retained their first class
assignments, offering Pullman passengers the benefits of the "Colorado
Room".)
The Diner Parlor Obs were also used on the Twin Cities Zephyrs very rarely
in the late 40's, and ofcourse the "Kansas City Zephyr", and for a while on
the "Coloradoan" among other trains. So there is plenty of uses for the
great N scale model. Hey, it would be great to have one in HO!! (Kato and
Brass Manufacturers please take note!)
I invested in a brass N scale "Denver Zephyr". You can find them still
available. If you ever decide to splurge for one, they are worth the cost.
A terrific fine scale replica of the Vista Dome Denver Zephyr.
