Leo,

In a very, very belated reply to the question of whether or not the car
track report lists for LaSalle show where the coal came from, the answer is
no. There's a strong possibility it came out of Fulton County mines. I
believe coal from that area also went to the cement plant at Dixon, Ill. and
was probably interchanged to the IC at Mendota. I saw some pictures of and
IC train taken in the late 60's near Mendota and it had Q loaded coal
hoppers in it. In Mike Spoor's freight car book they're a couple of shots
showing loaded Q hoppers waiting at Mendota. I know for sure Q hoppers went
to the cement plant at Dixon (was Medusa Cement in the 70's) account I
always saw some in the plants little holding yard there on the way to
Galesburg. I took some photos of them once.

Sorry about the long response time. I was finally getting around to
cleaning house in my email bin.

Thanks for filling us in on National Sheet Metal.
