The Q used a stenographer at investigations too. That
is why the Ass't. Super's office rated a steno.. The
old timers told me that, when they used the Div.
office car, it had to be a MALE steno., because women
couldn't travel with the officials! In later years, a
female Chief Clerk served as the steno. at Centralia
for investigations. It was Bess Lezzares and I
guarantee you that old gal would not have turned red!
She was one tough old sister.
