In my opinion, all three of the Aurora yard jobs were preferred over the yard jobs at Eola (to the exclusion of the overtime industry jobs like the Armour, Lyon Metal and Nabisco). My first pay trip as an engineer was on the day Depot job - passenger & freight work - sure beat the heck out of "poundin' the lead" at Eola with charming Vic Wilmes as the yardmaster. Bob |
