Jim,
>From my best recollections -
1) Don't remember shadowlining from'60 on.
2) I sat in the power car many times and the "noise" wasn't bothersome. I
remember that there was really thick insulation on the partition and door
separating the passenger compartment from the "noise room."
3) For newspapers distributed from Chicago to various suburban destinations
along the way.
4) Yes. On excursion trains from time to time.

Subject: [BRHSlist] Chicago Commuter Questions
First I'm new to list and this is my first post. I have a few
questions about the Burlington's commuter equipment and operations.
1. How long did the shadow lining last on the power cars?
2. With a diesel generator set in the power car, weren't these cars a
bit loud to sit in (sorry but this question is my curious side)?
3. Why did two power cars 7300 and 7301 have a baggage section?
4. Did the bi-levels ever "stray" away from Chicago? BN (BNSF?) has
wandered these away from Chicago if my memory is clear.
Thanks,
Jim Becker
