Started tearing up the rail on the Beatrice Subdivision between
Beatrice and Wymore around 20-May and yesterday it was made
official as that mileage was removed from the CTWC database.
As of last night there were no cars at Wymore at all and I would
presume that Red Cloud and Superior, where there are active
industries, will either be served via the Lester Subdivision or Strong
City Subdivision. Wymore is now a dead end with only access
from Hastings.
Still are grain empties moving North via Superior. About 2 weeks ago
had a shuttle from Garden City for Tacoma come North. Hard to
imagine 110 286,000 GWR loads on #75 lb rail but it made it to
Hastings. Roseland is a shuttle elevator but not much corn or beans
being sold right now. Only thing holding its own is wheat.
There are 1500 covered hoppers parked between Plentywood and
Scobey in Montana most of which are leased cars. Gets expensive
that way but you gotta have the cars when the Customers want them.
