"X" denotes that it is privately owned. These cars are not subject to per
diem hourly rates when offline. I know of only one exception - the Peoria
& Pekin Union Railway has a small number of gondolas marked "PPUX" that
are used by Caterpillar to ship scrap steel plates from Building LL in
East Peoria to Behr Peoria, Inc. in Peoria.
