I have the BRHS issue on the Southern Illinois Coal Fields. It
discussed the aluminum hoppers and how there were three groups
produced. The first two groups were produced in 1964/1965 and
the other was produced in 1968. According to the issue, the first
two sets were eventually used in the Machens operation.
Where was the third set used?
What was the final disposition of the aluminum hoppers? When were
they disposed of?
SD7's with "creep control" were used with these trains. Were the BN
SD40-2's and C-Boats also equipped with "creep control" when they
replaced the SD7's?
