This afternoon at 3:45 pm CDT, the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad
operated it's first train over the recently completed line. A special train
was assembled, consisting of CB&Q E7 # 9920, CB&Q dome car "Silver Dome",
and the CB&Q's business car "Burlington, " and was run from the Galesburg,
Illinois depot, through to Creston. A celebration with President & CEO as
the main speaker was held at Creston prior to the train returning eastward.
A special stop was made in Burlington to commemorate the event.
Hopes are that freight service will begin tomorrow, followed by regular
passenger service.
We are looking forward to showing the line to those visiting the NMRA
Convention this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
