The discussion of weed sprayers brought back a memory of a comment that Lew
Peshia told me one day as we pulled into HY and were looking at a string of
new rail installed through the East End.He commented that the RR no longer
followed up the rail gangs w/a rail oiler train.Since I had never heard of
such a thing I asked what purpose there would be in oiling the straight
rail(curves I understood). He said that before the departure of all the ice
reefeers the rails needed to be protected from salt water mixture dripping
from the hundreds of them passing by daily!
