On pages 116-7 of Mike Spoor's Volume 3 are photos of four-stackers of the
three groups of VO-1000's (#9350-7, 9358-63 and 9364-79). In each case, the
horn is mounted on the extreme front edge of the cab roof, on the centre
line, with the mouth facing forward. They appear to be affixed with a
simple vertical bracket at the join of the diapham and trumpet.

The photos are dated between 1960 and 1964.

Note, in each case, there is a "radio box" (that's the description used in
previous List queries) mounted on the hood immediately in front of the cab.
A Model Railroader plan in June 1966 showed a horn mounted on the hood just
in front of the cab rather than the cab roof, so maybe that was the original
location prior to the "radio box" being added. (Just to contradict myself, I
can't find any photos of a single stack unit which show any horn in any
location!!)
