I don't remember ever seeing the traps up on any of the power cars (I
commuted from Brookfield, then later Lisle, Belmont in the sixties and early
seventies). I don't think the regular steel commuter coaches even had
traps. (I don't have my references here so I can't quote series). The
rebuilt heavyweights may have retained the traps but there was no place on
the run to use them.
