No,
It was in '62, August I believe. Keith was the RFE and Clark Caldwell was
Hoghead. The rider car was a part of the train. A "simple" set out at Big Rock
took almost 2 hr. cause Hummie and Wayne were so short they got lost in the
crowd and half the people on the train had timecards and were waving' them all
over the place so we couldn't figure out who was givin' the real signs.
Also, while at Big Rock, one of the "Northerns", could have been 26, showed up
and we all thought a few "fans" were gonna be decorating the front of the
engine as it passed though the crowd but, as the Red Sea was parted, so were
the people and nobody got hit.
Could you imagine this scene viewed through the eyes of an Attorney in THIS
day-and-age ??????

Karl -
Was this excursion on June 24, 1961? Was Keith Narrigan the RFofE? Mel
Finzer of Naperville (now a United pilot) shot the aerial photo which was a
center spread in Trains. I think the waycar on that trip was the 3003
(shorty bag/coach acct. train was still listed as a "mixed train" at that
time), the regular one assigned to the Oregon Turn.
