Steve
It went into a washout in Hastings, Iowa (west of Red Oak) in about '85. One
lady on the way from the diner to the sleeper with a bottle got caught
between cars and crushed was the only problem. One time I had a 492(Junk
freight)east bound out to Creston meet Amtrak 5 and burn off a journal on a
load of cement which laid over and peeled the side off a lounge car around
Melrose. The lounge was closed at the time. Crews passing it sitting on the
siding for a week said they would never deadhead in the lounge car again.
Can't remeber the year though.
