I am considering modeling a layout which features the best of the Burlington
Route and the Western Pacific Railroad. As we all know, the California Zephyr
was run jointly by the CB&Q-D&RGW-WP. Locomotive changes were made at Denver
and Salt Lake City so that the operating road had its own locomotives. I
don't remember any run throughs on either passenger or freight operations
during the 1950 to 1965 era. This is the era I would like to model.
I would like to make this layout as prototypical as I could. I may have to
stretch the truth, because I would want Burlington GP20's and Western Pacific
RDC's operating at the same time. But I would like to know if any of you know
of a situation where WP equipment ran on Burlington, or Burlington equipment
ran on WP.
