I guess my next question then would be, if IRM had no intention of
restoring 3007, then why bid on her, surely she wasn't going to
scrap, and possibly the 2nd place bidder truely wanted to restore her?
Couldn't the money they spent on her have gone for better things? I
understand that when Northstar rail went looking for a locomotive to
restore, they seriously considered 3007. With no disrespect meant to
Milwaukee Road #261, there was already at least two other 4-8-4's
running at the time. And now we are very close to having Ex GTW #6325
running, another 4-8-4. I wonder who the 2nd place bidder was?? What
if it was Ohio Central?, would 3007 be nearing completion today?
Just my two cents worth; John
