I did a web search for photos of grain elevators in the U.S. and 
discovered something that would make an interesting scene. 
Occasionally, one of the "old" traditional style wooden elevators 
remaining trackside would be dwarfed by a HUGE "modern" concrete 
structure behind or beside it. For several excellent photos go to:

Many elevator complexes also feature the circular conical roofed 
silos made from corrugated galvanized steel (like RIX and Walthers 
produce). These appear to be a later addition. Anybody know when 
these became commonplace? I'm modeling cira 1950.
