The term "pony truck" when used in the context I did refers to a truck with 2
different size wheels. The ones I've bumped into in the last couple years are
old former 70 ton hoppers supposedly converted to 100 ton in Mexico. They
show up with 36 inch wheels on the #1 and 4 axles and 33 inchers on the #2
and 3. The apparent reason is clearance for the flanges at the hopper slope
sheets! The trackage conditions in Mexico may also have something to do with
it. When found we put 36 in. wheels at each axle. Leo
