Darren:
If you get a chance visit Mendota, the railroad muesum has a beautiful
working layout of Mendota circa late 30's-early 40's. In a nutshell, the Q
came from the east and turned south through downtown before curving west
towards Arlington and Princeton after the 5th Ave. crossing. There was also
a Q spur that started just west of 13th Ave. and went through LaMoille to
Denrock. The tracks are on the east side of the depot. The IC came from the
NW and also turned south and continued that direction. These tracks were on
the west side of the depot and intersected with the Q just before 5th St. The
Milw. came from the NE and if memory serves me, actually shared the IC track
for a mile or so before heading SW towards Petersburg and Ladd.
Hope that helps,
John Ryan
