I've had a mailing from a railfan who subscribes to a couple of
prototype lists which reports the the Silver Lariat is being brought back
into service by the UP due to increased traffic, along with a UP baggage
which had been in MOW service to be renamed "Council Bluffs" and painted
yellow.
The note on the Q car reads:
"Silver Lariat"
original CB&Q dome coach, blt Budd 1948
to Amtrak 9452 in 1971
retired in early 1980s
sold to California Zephyer Railcar charters in 1984
A former Q dome back in regular service? Can anyone confirm this,
or give any other information?
