If you really want several, look across the pond. The Brits have a lively cottage industry  making etched brass locomotives, which are routinely in the 150 to 300 dollar price range. 

Athabasca did an etched kit of an NYC 4-6-0 and IIRC their kit price ended up in that same ballpark. 

I suspect your capital outlay is substantially lower, but of course then your left soldering them together. 

Alternately, etch a chassis and stick a 3d printed body and cab on top. Or, make a 3d printed body to stick atop some BLI or TriX 2-6-2. Flieschmann, Tillig, and others also offer euro locos in HO. Some of them have to be 2-6-2 s of similar dimensions.
