Been too long ago now to remember the flats used. Working the Ottumwa Div. position would get loads out of Dayman (IAAP) and direct to Savanna for storage. Most often they were in MOP Cars as they had to be weatherproof. Might have been loads out of Savanna, Ok. to IAAP at Dayman use as reload of empties for Savanna, Ill. A lot of storage in later years was raw material that was had to find for use in weapon manufacturing stored just in case. Often into or out of H-Area which was off the Westbound Main at Savanna. Generally just a set out or pick up as interplant switching was done by engines there. Same with Green River, Dayman and Savanna. Steve in SC

It’s been 45-53 years since i worked on the C&I so my memory may have some fogginess. But i do recall occasional loads of military equipment towards the rear of trains like 353/364, extra east,181,etc coming and going in both directions into and out of Savanna yard. My understanding was they were from and into the Savanna Proving grounds/depot. Yes i know the facility was ordinance based but these were military vehicles on regular Q and other flat cars.
