Been too long ago now to remember the flats used.  

Working the Ottumwa Div. position would get loads out of Dayman (IAAP) and direct to Savanna for storage.  Most often they were in MOP Cars as they had to be weatherproof.  Might have been loads out of Savanna, Ok. to IAAP at Dayman use as reload of empties for Savanna, Ill. 

A lot of storage in later years was raw material that was had to find for use in weapon manufacturing stored just in case.  Often into or out of H-Area which was off the Westbound Main at Savanna.  Generally just a set out or pick up as interplant switching was done by engines there.  Same with Green River, Dayman and Savanna.

According to AI the depot was primarily used for storage starting in 1962.

A Lot of Tanks went from the Lima Tank Arsenal via BN over the C&I headed to PNW for proofing before entering service.  At least 2 a week.  As they were heavy wide loads they had wide load files sent to the DS office so it was no trouble watching them.

Worked in DS office for 35 years,  Cicero, Galesburg and then the "Nest of Confusion"

Did the Q handle much military traffic. I read one story about military loads on the KC to Council Bluffs line, but was wondering if there are other instances.
