Hi All Does anyone know the reason fo the 2 CB&Q runs up through Wyoming. Was it merely a connection for parent Company Norther Pacific in Montana? Where they trying to generate trackside business or

It's only a guess, connection w/NP but also Yellowstone Park. The Q was not a land grant railroad like the NP & IC among others. Land grants were not all that good like everybody thinks. The IC got a

Brad, Simply, the Q was trying to reach Yellowstone and all that passenger traffic. They first went from Alliance to Sheridan to Billings For a while they had a cut off from Tuloca, MT to Cody, but a

While the Burlington was not primarily built with land grants there were areas where they did get land grants. Some of that may have been from RR's the CB&Q bought, but it still applied to them. See:
