And I think (but am not entirely sure of the fact) that "F" was a rounding up to 1400 hp of the original F units hp of 1350. If anyone know better, please feel free to correct me. Thank you kindly, M

Over the years I've been told more than once "F" stood for Freight (perhaps those Trains articles) and "E" stood for express.... but the real answer was horsepower. 1,400 for the FT 1,800 for the E L
