Allright. It's been three days and no one has even attempted to answer how a train/engine crew knew which trk. to p/u or s/o on in pre-radio days ? The answer will be a good modelling tip. Anybody ?

Hi Leo, I'll take a stab at it. Trainmen had hand signals for each of the 10 numbers and could signal the number of cars or track number with their hands. I had a older train man once demonstrate all
