Hi To all Yes we have made huge strides again today with siding and window sills, we also discovered two more original windows....however they had been raided from C&S 529 sometime in the 1920's in D

What has been the effect of the 1954 door on the structural integrity of the car?  Can the integrity be restored?  Looks like the car depended a lot on bracing members below the window line. From: MI

Hi Stephen Thats a good question, we have no reason to believe that any structural issues exist, the frame members are completely intact and in excellent shape, the only  steel cut through was the 2"

That is the way wood cars were built if the mover did not have a problem just adding the siding and new window sills is not part of the structure only the skin not the bones. That is the difference b

Not strictly true actually, the siding was glued on and nailed to add extra strength to the structure as well. mike   That is the way wood cars were built if the mover did not have a problem just add
