Thats a good question, we have no reason to believe that any structural issues
exist, the frame members are completely intact and in excellent shape, the only
steel cut through was the 2" bar that runs the length of the car at waistrail
height, this was counterbalanced at either end and connected to the truss rods.
The car was lifted either end a bit at a time and didnt flex at all, the mover
saying that it was the strongest wooden structure he had ever moved.
However i still think we will have a battle with BNSF allowing to do trips to
denver on weekends !!

What has been the effect of the 1954 door on the structural integrity of the
car? Can the integrity be restored? Looks like the car depended a lot on
bracing members below the window line.

Yes we have made huge strides again today with siding and window sills, we also
discovered two more original windows....however they had been raided from C&S
529 sometime in the 1920's in Denver.
