- I know where Big Cut is. It's just east of Plum Creek Junction (Savanna) and almost southwest of Mount Carroll. It's the site of, get this, a big cut on the climb out of the Mississippi River valley.

- Have seen references on old maps to another Big Cut, this one in Iowa, east of Ottumwa - west of Agency (City). Not sure if this was ever an open agency, though or even a station point. Is a country
