The point is, he originally didn't indicate that the photo was a cobbled up fake.  If you read the original description, he made it sound like this was a photo of the Pioneer Zephyr and gave it's extensive history. Not a word on the the fact that it looked nothing like the photo.  Worst yet, people who can't tell it's a fake, will think this is what the Pioneer Zephyr actually looked like.  I don't want AI deciding what should be included in the photo that I'm trying to use for historical references.

If he wants to sell fantasy pictures, that should be prominently stated in the auction title, otherwise he's just perpetrating a scam on unknowing customers.

When buying BR-CB&Q-Zephyr art & photos, we all have to use our own judgement just like we do when selecting commercially manufactured models in our favorite scales.  Some models are clearly in Fantasy liveries, other models are so prototypical that many find the paint shade too dark (Stewart HO F unit graybacks).   

 

I just hope that Jay_Cee_Cor continues to offer photo prints of BR (CB&Q, C&S, FW&D), D&RGW, WP, & California Zephyr.  I have asked him for specific photo sizes that were different from his listing, and he has always accommodated me.  The detailed item description will often state the photo's location, date, & photographer.

 

I have 23 photo prints from him.  They all appear to be real, unaltered photos and most are in color.  Here are some examples:

 

CB&Q

#4960 on trestle near Ohio IL.

#4960 on steel truss bridge over Fox River at Sheridan IL.

Depot at Sandwich IL.

Depot at Crete NE.

CZ interiors in 1948 with actors posing as passengers in Chicago (B&W publicity photos).

Let's all remember that the CB&Q also made "fantasy" photos for promotional purposes.  The Q did not print any disclaimer.  Examples are:

 

KCZ equipment in ads as a stand-in for the 1956 DZ equipment (prior to the availability of the new DZ equipment). 

 

"Photoshopping" mountains from MT into the background of the 1956 DZ in Lisle IL with a couple on horseback in the foreground watching the DZ pass by.  

 

Please buy the photos, art, & models that you like and enjoy them.  I'm happy that so many offerings are available.
