Steve,
On a pure, as intended consist basis, the short answer in comparing car types, only the Diners & and the added in 1952 6/5 Sleepers were close to the same.    No baggage cars were built for the DZ, the last Q Budd baggs were built in 1952.   Visually the 3 - 1952 baggs ( Olympus, Argo & Treasure ) looked like CZ bags, but there were differences.   The Buckle & Brand dome chairs were visually different in the under dome window arrangements on both sides of the cars.   Flattop chairs had a different size window from the CZ's converted 16 section cars.    Dome Dorms were very different.    10/6 sleepers - CZ had matching windows side to side in the bedroom aisle.   1952 built cars had the 3 window pattern along the aisle ( several went into the CZ pool ).  DZ 10/6s were center bedroom which made them totally different.   The dome obs cars are obviously very different.    I hope that helps a little.

On an expanded consist or fill in basis, you see a lot of interesting stuff running on either train.  Certain key / feature cars didn't stray much.    Some did.   A little off topic, there is a photo from 1969 in "Portrait of a Silver Lady" showing my Silver Patio in Oakland laying over on the CZ.    Of course by 1969 the Patio had been a "spare" fill in pool car for almost 15 years working wherever needed, but only 1 documented time on the CZ.   It was more than likely filling in for a B/O Dome Dorm Lounge, also requiring adding a sleeper for the crew tucked in behind the Baggage Car.   It shows that at times, you are forced to get creative.    After the 1952 launch of the KCZ & it's disappointing ridership, the Q used the Patio & Garden on the DZ when needed adding an additional wrinkle to what is correct & what isn't.
