Early trains were often recognized by the Conductor's name. 

The Burlington ran a local “all stop” train called “Billy’s Train” for many years. My mother, Arlene (Frey) Husband often told of how she would take me to the station in Western Springs, and take “Billy’s train” to Earlville where my grandfather lived (the Q wye ran through his property). Unfortunately, I was too young to remember this train, which was taken out of service in 1951. The train was named after a popular conductor, Billy Cummings.  Cummings was once one of the crew members who helped lay the tracks between Aurora and Mendota in 1853. His original home was Aurora, but he moved to Mendota in 1870.
