Dave,
First of all: WOW WOW WOW and YOU SURE ARE A LUCK GUY. I've always wanted one but when they come up for auction (which is very rare) it's beyond my budget. Wonding if you wouldn't mind tell us what you paid for it.Â
I've seen photos interior car photos, and the lounge cars do have these types of ash trays. But they vary in type.
Good news; is I have a photo of the 1956 DZ dome car that shows the cigarette stand you bought, see attached. You might want to look at the BRHS web site and search for BROCHURES. Many have interior shots that could further help you identify it. I would start
the search under "1956 Denver Zephyr".
Maybe others can also be of help.
Congratulations on this find. A great addition. I miss living in the mid-west and hunting down Q memorabilia.

Subject:Â [CBQ] Lounge Car Smoking Stand
Â
Â
Hello All,
I was fortunate enough to find this on Facebook Marketplace in Lincoln.  The only use I've seen for this style on the Q has been the Silver Chateau & Silver Veranda on the DZ.  There were I believe 7 or 8 in the Observation Lounge, 1 under the dome in
the Colorado Room and a few in the forward Lounge.  Otherwise, the S. Cup, Kettle, Garden & Patio cars didn't use smoke stands, and all of the older CZ, TCZ, Etc equipment used the classic Climax style stands.  Can anyone confirm or correct what I think
I know?
Thanks!
