On a side note,the Dubuque Boat and Boiler works was where the mighty Sprague was built.She was the biggest most powerful steam stern wheeler on the mississippi.

Later converted to a museum,she burned to the hull line and was.scrapped.

The Burlington also had passenger service to Dubuque,but not train passenger service,that was provided by BurlinIgton Trailways,which ferried passengers across the river to East Dubuque.I saw a large picture in the DB&T bank downtown showing the Burlington laying track on the ice,and a steam locomotive sans tender crossing the river.I never forgot my brother leaving for Viet Man at the East Dubuque depot
