From "The Electric Interurban Railways in America: Hilton and Due "The Deadwood Central was a narrow-gauge steam road in the Black Hills of SD, built in the 1880's and absorbed by the Burlington. In 1902 a 4 mile segment of this road between Lead and Deadwood was electrified and passenger service provided with NG interurban cars. The segment from Pluma into Deadwood was operated on the Burlington tracks, with a third rail laid for the NG cars. Part of the segment from Lead to Pluma was on an 8 per cdnt grade. In 1924, upon approval of the ICC the line was abandoned, owing to operating losses and the deterioration of equipment. " Steve in SC

First of all, there is no such place, nor was there ever a Lead, Colorado. The Black Hills are in South Dakota, as is the town of Lead. Might I suggest you refer to an atlas before you ask questions. I have that book as well, and it only says Lead, so you
were on your own as to which state it was in, ergo I recommend any good atlas.

Hills”. My particular interest is the CB&Q trolley and its trailer in the left foreground of the photo. There is no origin of the photo shown in the book. _._,_._,_
