I have been to Buxton and once arranged for a group of over 50 students and faculty from Central College to tour the site with a former resident of Buxton. Some of my relatives also lived there, but were not miners. The C&NW had a line that ran from Belle Plaine to Buxton. It would have crossed the Burlington line that ran to Oskaloosa. The C&NW bridge piers are still in the Des Moines River.
