Dave,
I downloaded it from the BRHS Flickr albums. Search for CB&Q 2158 2-6-2 Class R5. Most of the Burlington yard structure photos I’ve found were in the background behind locomotives. This photo is particularly
informative for structure modeling because the locomotive is off to the side instead of obscuring the structure. This photo was all I had to go with for modeling the sand house and sand tower circa 1953, I have some other partially obscured photos, but they
don’t show enough for modeling. This was golden egg.
I attached a cropped version of the sand house that I enhanced before scaling and drawing plans.
I recommend that structure modelers take the time to go through the Flickr albums looking from their structures of interest, remembering that some were built to company standard plans, so they may apply to
multiple locations.

All,
I did a little work on the image Nelson sent and attached it.
Nelson, I don’t recall seeing this image before. May I ask from where/who it came?

Since it’s 1949, steam was still active, and there is a large coal tower just out of the picture. There is no sand tank on the wood tower atop the sand house, so it was removed and some point and dried sand
from the sand house was piped to the coal tower and delivered from there. I’ve seen picture of coal towers that doubled as sand towers, and there are plans for such a coal tower in an old MR, complete with drawings of the sand pipes next to the coal chutes.
I don’t know how sand was delivered to the drying house, or how raw sand was stored. Wider angle picture would help, as would pictures of the coal tower.
I attached the picture of the sand house and tower at Burlington.

This is an image of the sand house I need to scratchbuild for my layout for Rochelle, IL. This is how it appeared in 1949. I'm embarrassed to say I have no idea of how this
worked and what type of equipment would be housed in the building. I'd appreciate any information on how this process worked.
