Thread-topic: [CBQ] Red lines

Leo

The closest in Bulletin 18 is the lower photo on page 60, showing the Aurora wrecker with a boom car, box car, possibly an air dump car and a pale coloured coach. However, the coach does not have boarded-up windows at one end, nor a door in the middle of the side. On page 57 is a photo of the Galesburg wrecker with the end of a pale-coloured coach visible but the end is the wrong shape for a Pullman tourist car.

Thanks Bill and Hol.

Does anyone have a copy BRHS Burlington Bulletin 18 handy to see if the support cars for each wrecker are included ? Since the photo is noted as KC,KS was there a wrecker based at Kansas City ? Any photos of the KC wrecker and train available ?

The vast majority of MOW equipment was painted orange . I’d be very surprised if any other piece of MOW equipment would have a heavy chain w/hook and a rerailing frog under it other than that assigned to wrecker service. But maybe I’m wrong.

I’ve gone to my FOBNR contact and asked if they can check that first BN equipment book(yellow ring binder) for details. My memory is It did list the Q wreckers, etc in their Q numbers. But it’s been a long time since I’ve seen one……..

Thanks,

Leo

Guys:

This car was built in March 1915 as part of Pullman lot 4318 for 50 plan 2410B 12 section/1 drawing room sleepers. It carried the name "Poncelot" until January 1941 when it was changed to 13 section Pullman tourist car 1635.  Sold with a number of tourist cars to the Q in March 1954, it was converted into company service car (type unknown) 251160 in 1957.

Rupert and Leo,

The BRHS Freight car spreadsheet shows this information about car 251160.

251160

MW. Company Service. Built by Pullman. Ex Pullman #1635 72' 10" Tourist Sleeper. Converted 1957 to MW Service. Series #251160.

It doesn’t really help concerning the red stripes, but it does provide some additional information.
