Note the heavy chain and what looks to be a rerailer hanging under the car. Also I would point out that the Aurora,IL wrecker bunk/dinner and tool car were painted grey in the later years. It looks like there’s a black gon coupled to the end of the grey car so that further matches the paint and equipment that I remember from the Aurora wrecker train.

So I’ll suggest it’s probably part of a wrecker train. If someone has the early BN book listing equipment you could verify from it.

The red stripe is interesting as I’ve never seen another car with that before.

It is painted (I presume) gray with red lines at the top and bottom of the sides and ends, the windows at one end of the car have been covered, and a door has been added halfway down the side. The red lines would n=make it easier to find among other car so presumably it had a special function. Any suggestions?
