Leo: Thanks for the kind words. This was a massive project. The downloading of the images and text from Flickr began last August. That step was in preparation for adding the images to the BRHS platform but also to backup these these thousands of images should the Flickr account ever be lost. The existing photo feature was not equipped to handle 38,000+ images so it had to be replaced with a new storage architecture and retrieval system. Moving images from Flickr to the BRHS platform only took couple of weeks. The other eight months was the design and coding for the new photo system. The work to bring a powerful and friendly photo system to the BRHS is not done. There are many more improvements that can be made which will make this system far better. For example, making all of the titles for stations, locomotives and rolling stock uniform in their syntax so that the sorted results by titles will be more meaningful. Another is integrating data: the station's web pages with the station photos pages; the fan trips and the locomotive photo pages. Thousands of photos are marked as B&W when they need to be marked as Color. The Collector, Photographer and image date are often found in the description and need to be added to the data fields for each. The linking of station/depot photos to the 'Q' Rail Network station web pages is a cool feature. Creating this linkage is easy to do -- if you know how. It takes about 60 seconds. I have made a 4 minute video that shows how to do this and I put it into the Tutorials located on the Members Only menu. To save time here is the link: https://www.burlingtonroute.org/members_only/secured/tutorials/Enhancing_the_BRHS_photo_information.mp4 I can't fix all of these things by myself. It would take me years. I need the help from our members. The web page that displays the full images is called the View/Edit page for a reason. Every member of BRHS can add to or correct the information on it (title, color, links, etc.). This feature is unique to the BRHS Photo System. If members help, these improvements can be done in months and the power of this feature will climb thereby benefiting you and all of the other members who use this system. Thanks again Leo. See you in Savanna! On 4/3/2024 9:59 PM, Leo Phillipp via

Just wanted to say thanks to Jack Schroeder and all the others who moved the BRHS flicker photo collection and created the search function. It works easily and well. BRHS members can now find what we are looking for with a few clicks. Thank you for all your time and effort. It will save me many hours going forward. Leo Phillipp _._,_._,_
