Over the years, I have collected hundreds of articles and extracts from trade magazines such as Railway Master Mechanic, Railway Review and Railroad Gazette relating, principally, to the CB&Q.
They cannot be uploaded to the BRHS Archives for sharing as I don’t possess the original document (although I do believe that they are genuine) so a Digital Library for members has been created on the BRHS website. Currently there are about 3,300 entries in
the Library, each with a downloadable pdf. With some subjects, there will be more than one article as each magazine often produced its own report, and often there will be more than one entry for the pdf.
The quality of the original scans varies tremendously and is totally beyond my control. However, once you have the reference point, you can search for alternative copies of the volume from other
institutions. In some cases, the same volume but from different sources can be found at the principle web sites - Hathi Trust, Linda Hall Library, Archive.net or Google Books
I have obtained consent from the Editor of Railway Age to upload post-1927 material which would otherwise be subject to copyright restrictions. Archive.net has scanned large numbers of later
editions so I will be adding more material as I find it. I will also be adding pdf copies of documents currently saved in the Flickr Collection as individual pages, such as the Annual Reports of Directors
To access the Digital Library, sign in to the BRHS site and scroll down to the Digital Library icon. This will give you access to the Search and Browse options. Let me know if you have any queries.
