[CBQ] Western Star as separate train between Chicago and St. Paul

Lots of good information surrounding the Black Hawk on this forum, but need some clarification.  What year did the through Chicago cars from Great Northern's Western Star begin riding the Black Hawk between Chicago and St. Paul?  I have heard as late as 1955, but also 1953.  Here's a link to a CB&Q timetable showing it as separate from the Black Hawk in May, 1953:

My March 1955 Official Guide shows the Black Hawk, Western Star and Mainstreeter as one train between Chicago and St. Paul.

And lastly - following the consolidation with the Black Hawk (during peak travel periods like summer), how often did the Western Star operate separately from the Black Hawk?
