Jerold:
Here is some information taken from CB&Q maps.
The centerline of the depot at O’Neill was at survey station 6618+65, or MP 124.209.
When the track was constructed in 1890, it extended 1,950 feet west of the depot to the end of track at MP 124.578.
At a point 764 feet west of the depot (MP 124.353), there was a turnout which was the beginning of an 815 foot connecting track to the C&NW.
CB&Q owned 366 feet of this track and C&NW owned 449 feet.
In 1932, CB&Q removed their original main track west of the turnout, and converted their 366 foot portion of the connecting track from side track to main track, which they then called MP 124.423 at the division of ownership.

Old USGS topo maps show that the C&NW and CB&Q lines connected.

Did the old CB&Q branch line to O'Neill, NE interchange with the C&NW Cowboy Line so that rolling stock could be transferred between the lines?
