While it doesn't mean that the "original" wasn't a replacement for an earlier 
one, the architecture is consistent with structures built 1853-1890.  
I'd guess that the operator's bay was like the original Plano depot under the 
fancy roof and was moved more to the middle when the freight portion was added. 
  Could be it and Plano were built with the Aurora Branch Extension / Chicago 
and South Western.
