Charlie, First, sorry I have pirated this thread away from the arrival of gallery cars.
I was born in 1952, so I don't remember much prior to 1960. We lived on Prairie Ave directly behind the Strand Theater which closed in '54. The Pacific Press was north of the theater with the Borman 2-flat in-between.
I do remember remnants of the coal company and a two place handcar shed, but thought they were in the industrial section west of Maple. My clearest memories were of the grade crossing at Prairie Ave including an older boy on a bicycle when a Sunday morning steam train went flying through.
